September Student & Employee Spotlights

Mason Smith, a student from Clay Elementary, was our Pledge Leader Student Spotlight for September! Thank you, Mason, for leading us in the pledge at Monday night's board meeting! 👏

We also recognized our 1WC Difference Makers of the Month, Jamie Parkest (on left), WCMS, and Camilla Herron, Dixon ELS. Congratulations!

🎺🥁 THE SEASON IS IN FULL SWING! 🥁🎺

Marching season isn’t just about the big performances. It’s about the late afternoons, Friday night pep band songs & halftime performances, long rehearsals, sore feet, missed weekends, constant program adjustments, and the determination to make it better.

Our band students are right in the heart of the season—and they’re putting in the work! 💪 This past weekend, they had a great night at the Festival of Champions at Murray State University!

2nd Place - Class AA
8th Place Overall out of 12 bands!

This weekend, they are heading to Daviess County High School for their Fall Spectacular Marching Band Competition! 🎶 Go WC!

KIP Survey Update: Attention 6th, 8th, 10th, & 12th grade Parents

As of today, our KIP Parent Permission completion numbers are:

• Clay 6th - 26/28 = 93% 🎉 Go Jets! 🤩

• Dixon 6th - 26/50 = 52%

• Providence 6th - 8/32 = 25%

• Sebree 6th - 2/42 = 5%

• WCMS 8th - 33/146 = 23%

• WCHS 10th - 42/183 = 23%

• WCHS 12th - 19/137 = 12%

The completion numbers are increasing! 👏

There are several ways to submit the permission form:

• Complete the permission form attached to the original school group post in ParentSquare. Look for the '2026 KIP Survey' in the group post title.

🍦Every 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th grade homeroom that achieves 90% participation or more will receive free ice cream during lunch.

🪎All survey participants will be entered into a giveaway, with prizes available at each school and for each grade level surveyed.

Why is this important?

The KIP Survey has helped our school district and community partners secure programs and millions of dollars in grant funding for school safety, substance use prevention, suicide prevention, and mental health programs and resources, such as:

• COPS Grant for school safety, including a new intercom system at Providence and door swipe badges districtwide

• 21st Century Afterschool Grants for WCMS and WCHS

• Stronger Connections Grant to provide student and family support, including the Second Chance Express Bus Route, ParentSquare, student social-emotional learning and character development curriculum & resources for all schools, family engagement materials (magnet calendars, publications), attendance support and recognition (student awards, school banners and flags)

• Drug-Free Communities student programming and support for character education, health, and wellness

This form is not just about students receiving free meals. Each submitted form helps us advocate for our students. No matter your income status, each form matters!

Why is this form important?

🍴Free meals for students

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 FRYSC (Family Resource Youth Service Center) funding for staff, student programs, and supplies

🛜 E-rate funding for high-speed internet

📚 Title 1 federal funding for extra academic help for our schools

📊 Data for grants that directly support our students

Behind every great school district is a team of people making sure the right people are in the right places, employees have the support they need, and our schools have what they need to keep moving forward.

🍀 4-H Enrollment is Open! 🍀

A message from Webster County 4-H Agent, Wade Raymer:

4-H'ers will now be enrolled ONLINE! Online registration is simply for ENROLLING in 4-H. *This does not take the place of signing up for specific clubs.*

If a child plans to participate in any 4-H-related activities, they need to ENROLL online by clicking 🔗 https://4honline.com.

Here are a couple of options:

Option #1 New Enrollment - If you are a NEW family (having never been in the county 4-H program before), you will select: “Don’t have an account?” or "Sign Up" and then follow the steps for creating an account.
Option #2 Re-Enrollment - If you are a returning family and have had youth enrolled in the county 4-H program in the past, you will select “Reset Password?” or "Sign In". The county office created an account for you using your past enrollment form. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT! Creating a new account when your child already has one can create further difficulties within the system. You will only need to reset your password to get started. This will be done through the email that is on file from the previously created account that the office set up when you enrolled in the previous year. If you are not sure of this email, please contact our office at 270-639-9011 OR stop by the office for assistance.

➡️ There will be a 4-H ONLINE REGISTRATION EVENT on October 15th, from 3:30-5:30 PM. This event is to help with registration needs while your child participates in fun 4-H activities. Please follow the Webster County 4-H page for more information.
