WC Summer Update

It's been a busy summer!

Our campuses have been busy this summer with maintenance and facilities projects. Check out some of the updates and pictures below to see how we are getting ready for the first day of school on August 12th!

Roofing projects at the Dixon, WCMS, Clay, central office, and Providence are either completed or nearing completion.

The new GPS Paint Robot can paint parking lots, athletic fields, and add designs, such as numbers and logos. The satellite antenna located at the football complex enables the robot to be used at all district facilities. Field irrigation, track surfacing, and visitor seating work are continuing.

The first piece of the scoreboard is being installed this morning, with the new fencing in the background. A new rock retaining wall is also being finished.

The new secure entrances are getting finished at Providence, Sebree, and Dixon. These are pictures of Sebree's lobby area.

In addition . . .

  • Heating and air projects are finished at Clay, WCHS, and the central office.
  • 898 ceiling tiles will soon be replaced in district buildings as the roof projects conclude.
  • WC Technology Department has earned 33 desktop computers for schools through training opportunities with Erate and Dataseam,

The 8 AEDs provided by the KY Department of Education's AED Grant have been installed in district facilities, including one floater AED for transportation to use on field trips.

COPS Safety and Security Grant Update - The $469,869 grant has been utilized to install new electronic door access controls in each classroom and a new intercom system with exterior speakers at Providence Elementary. To keep all door access controls on the same system, WC Schools upgraded to new exterior door swipes across the district.

USDA Distance Learning and Technology Grant Update - The $998,316 grant provided distance learning equipment, which was installed in the spring and is being used. Each classroom received a Viewsonic interactive learning panel and a distance learning Poly Studio bundle that allows students and teachers to participate in distance learning opportunities, such as professional learning sessions, district team meetings, museum tours, college and career advising sessions, and much more! A large panel display and portable speaker system for larger events were also included in the grant. Teachers will receive professional learning on the Viewsonic interactive panels next week during our Instructional Strategies Institute.

Ready Fest is Monday, August 4th

ReadyFest is scheduled for Monday, August 4th at the WCMS Gym from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Stop by for vendor resources, free school supplies, and online registration assistance.
 

Trojanettes Dance Camp August 1st & 2nd
